Worship
Our worship service is a time of celebration for the fellowship of believers. Although we express our worship in many diverse ways, our highest expression of worship is the full adoration of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who desires to draw all men to Himself and who makes Himself known to all who earnestly seek Him.
THE DIFFERENT SCRIPTURAL WAYS GOD HAS GIVEN US TO WORSHIP:- We sing in many ways - “But be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord” (Ephesians 5:18-19)
- We clap our hands and shout joyfully - “O clap your hands, all peoples; Shout to God with the voice of joy.” (Psalm 47:1)
- We lift our hands - “Therefore I want men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands.” (I Timothy 2:8)
- We pray and sing with the Spirit - “I shall pray with the spirit and I shall pray with the mind also; I shall sing with the spirit and I shall sing with the mind also.” (I Corinthians 14:15)
- We pray in tongues and interpret - “and do not forbid to speak in tongues.” (I Corinthians 14:39, 14:5, 14:27)
- We encourage the gift of prophecy - “Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy . . . everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement, and comfort.” (I Corinthians 14:1,3)
- We partake of the Lord’s supper - “Do this in remembrance of Me.” (Luke 22:19-20)
- We pray for the sick, laying on hands and anointing with oil - “Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the Church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up.” (James 5:14-15)
- We share testimony - “And they reported all that God had done with them.” (Acts 15:3-4)
- We bow and kneel - “They fell down on their face before the throne and worshipped God.” (Revelation 7:11)
- We are still - “Be still before the Lord, all mankind, because He has roused himself from His holy dwelling. (Zechariah 2:13); “The Lord is in His holy temple; let all the earth be silent before Him.” (Habakkuk 2:20)
- We worship with musical instruments - “Praise Him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise Him with the harp and lyre, praise Him with tambourine and dancing, praise Him with resounding cymbals.” (Psalm 150:3-5)
We desire that Chesapeake Community Church be a worshipping church - “the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and His worshippers must worship in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:23-24)
